Noir World June & July Update
almost 5 years ago – Thu, Jul 11, 2019 at 02:24:51 AM

Hello everyone,

We have been continuing the rather time-consuming process of setting up the print on demand versions of Noir World. John has been checking the mail daily in the hopes of getting his final proofs so that we can get the books out to you fine folks. We didn’t want to wait any longer for to give you this update.

Potential GenCon Pickups

Assuming that John gets the proofs in good order, we are planning on ordering copies for backers to pick at GenCon 2019. An anonymous individual has stepped forward to pay for the printing costs for these GenCon pickups and hand-delivery means that there won’t be any shipping costs either. If this works out and he receives the proofs shortly, many of you should be able to have your hard-copies in August.

If you would be interested in picking up your copy at the show or having a friend do so on your behalf, please fill in the google form below. As soon as we have confirmation that the book will be ready for the show, we will notify everyone.

After GenCon, John will get print copies shipped out to all of the other backers as quickly as possible. More on that to come after GenCon.

Noir World May Update
almost 5 years ago – Wed, May 29, 2019 at 02:14:46 AM

Things are still slowly proceeding with Noir World. DriveThruRPG has reviewed the POD files we had submitted and given us feedback on the POD version of the game. I just revised the file so that it meets their rather strict ink-limits requirements and we hope that everything is on track. As soon as it’s ready for print, we will absolutely let you know.

On the financial side of things, John has managed to get up to $495.88 saved up, and it should go up to $995.88 later this week based on a freelance job. He is also in the process of bidding on some major freelance jobs that might significantly help things. The trajectory is positive, but spreading the word that the PDF is available for purchase could only help things.  https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/263170/Noir-World

We hope to have good printing-related news for you in June!

Noir World Update - March 2019
about 5 years ago – Mon, Mar 25, 2019 at 01:11:21 AM

Another update from Jason.

Over the last month we have gotten a decent selection of offset print quotes and identified the most economical one, however the price tag for the full print run is still rather high at this point. Now, fortunately we have two pieces of good news.

Firstly, the Noir World PDF is now available on DriveThruRPG for the public. 100% of proceeds from PDF sales will go into the printing and shipping fund. If any of you would be willing to spread the world on social media, it will be amazingly helpful and speed up the pace towards printing out the long-deserved hardcopies for you folks.

Secondly, DriveThruRPG has just recently announced some changes to their print on demand print prices which should theoretically make it possible to use that as a way to print the books for backers as the money comes in. We need to submit the files for a somewhat arduous proofing process, but it might be a sensible path forward if the quality is sufficient. If we are happy with the proofs, we would plan is to print hardcovers (fewer and more expensive for backers) and books for GenCon pickups (free shipping) first, followed by the softcovers.

This options would also make it possible for us to issue coupons for any backers who want to order print copies at-cost for any backers who are particularly eager to get their books more quickly. We would rather avoid making you folks pay any more for your long-awaited kickstarter rewards, but it would theoretically be an option for those who wanted to go down that path.

Now we, we shall return to the process of submitting printing proofs. Hopefully we will have good news for you in next month’s update!

February 2019 Update
about 5 years ago – Mon, Feb 18, 2019 at 08:56:44 PM

Jason here again. I apologise that I am a couple days late in sending this backer update due to a mishap in the dangerous streets of my home city. I’m on the mend, and the disgraced doctor says I’m good to go.

There isn’t a ton to report on, but we have progress. John has submitted the files to DriveThruRPG a while ago and and hopes that they will authorise the PDF game for sale soon. In the meantime, he has been unlocking backers who want to upgrade to hardcovers, and gathering a variety of print quotes. There’s progress, but we aren’t there yet.

I hope to give a more productive update this time next month. Until then, keep a sharp eye when you walk the dangerous streets.
