A Work in Progess - June Update

Hello everyone, 

We just wanted to drop you a line to give you a small update about the Noir World project. As we mentioned in a previous update, we are now saving up for a proper print-run of books.  This will cost over 6K for the quantities we are looking for, so it will continue to take a while for us to earn up the requisite cash. John is continuing to hunt for every freelance editing job that moves and is hopeful that things are heading in the right direction. He has been systematically removing outstanding debts so that he can concentrate all of his disposable funds towards printing.   

So far, our savings are....

• $620.00 from John's direct contributions.
• $70.00 from sales of Noir World PDFs on DTRPG
• $235.55 from sales of After the War: Law and Disorder 

TOTAL: $925.55

Yes, there is a long journey to go but progress is progress. If John can secure a handful of high-paying gigs, we expect to see more progress in the months to come.

Quick Update: Law and Disorder Project

Hello everyone, 

As I had mentioned in some previous backer updates, Genesis of Legend Publishing has been working on finding ways to raise additional funds for printing copies of Noir World. The first of these endeavours is the release of our new crime-based supplement "Law and Disorder" for our game "After the War"  All proceeds of sales of that product are going directly into the printing fund so that you patient backers can finally get your printed books.

Noir World Update: Playbooks Nouveau

Hello everyone,

Due to the challenges with COVID and mail systems, there have been some continuous delays for John receiving the updated proofs from DriveThruRPG but we are expecting that he will get the softcover versions up in the coming weeks. The hardcovers ran into some additional hiccups and will likely be another month or so. We wish we could speed things along on that front, but we are currently at the mercy of the printing goods. That has, however, given us a chance to get some progress on the kickstarter.

New Playbooks

We have gotten some calls for the digital version of the Toon and Replicant roles, which are provided as digital-only stretch goals. Once our intrepid graphic designer started the process of getting those laid out, he wasn’t satisfied with the old format. Instead, he indulged his perfectionist territories and redid the layout for all of the playbooks. A week later, we now have all of the playbooks in a new and improved format. This includes the Toon and Replicant for your more unusual movies.

Eyes on Offset

We are fortunately able to report that the overall financial situation of the project has improved somewhat, and we are finally able to turn our eyes towards the potential of an offset print run rather than our current POD approach. It’s a heavy lift, but the proceeds of the After the War: Law and Disorder product in addition to some competitive print quotes might make it possible. If we are able to pull this off, we would be able to get all of the outstanding copies physically printed and John could manually ship them out to folks as quickly as financially possible. This approach would allow us to get everyone the hardcopies they are owed as quickly as possible, and we will let you know if there are new developments.

December Update

Hey folks, 

Due to some technical changes, we have been obliged to update the cover files for the Noir World POD copies. This means that print copies are currently unavailable. As soon as those pass through the prepress review process and John gets clean proofs, we will try to scrounge up some additional funding for another wave of books for backers.

Noir World Update – September

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has not helped progress towards the Noir World fulfillment process. The ongoing chaos and financial issues have meant that no new funding has been accumulated for printing over the last few months. That said, we have some good news.

I have been working on a new supplement for my game After the War, for which John was the editor. This product, titled “Law and Disorder” will dig into the criminal aspects of the setting and all proceeds will go towards the Noir World fulfillment fund so that you folks can get your books as quickly as possible.
